Syon Bhanot is an Assistant Professor of Economics at Swarthmore College, studying behavioral and public economics. He is spending the 2018-19 academic year at Princeton University's Kahneman-Treisman Center for Behavioral Science & Public Policy as a Visiting Fellow.

His areas of research interest include pro-social behavior, development, and personal finance decisions. His work primarily involves running randomized field experiments with a variety of partners in the US and abroad (including the City of Philadelphia, the World Bank, and the US Agency for International Development).

In addition to his position at Swarthmore, Dr. Bhanot is a founding member of the Philadelphia Behavioral Science Initiative, a Senior Researcher at theĀ Applied Cooperation Team, a Research Affiliate at theĀ Busara Center for Behavioral Economics, and President of BEEMA (Behavioral and Experimental Economists of the Mid-Atlantic).
