“MPP candidates come from a variety of educational and professional backgrounds, and their courses of study at the Woodrow Wilson School naturally reflect this diversity” — Thomas J. Christensen, Faculty Chair of the MPP Program
The Woodrow Wilson School offers a one-year Master in Public Policy (MPP) degree for mid-career professionals who are rising leaders in international and domestic public policy.
The MPP program provides rigorous training in quantitative and policy analysis, preparing degree candidates to return to their careers with the intellectual breadth, organizational skills and self-confidence necessary to assume leadership positions in an increasingly complex public service environment.
The MPP Program is a terminal degree designed for policy professionals. It should not be viewed as a stepping stone to a PhD program.
A minimum of seven years of public or nonprofit sector work experience is required for entrance to the MPP degree for mid-career professionals.
All MPP applicants must also demonstrate leadership, creativity, a commitment to public service and the intellectual ability to thrive in a demanding academic environment.
The School enrolls approximately 15-25 MPP students per year.
