Dr. Julie L. Gerberding, executive vice president for strategic communications, global public policy and population health at Merck & Co. and former head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Gerberding is this year’s Gilbert S. Omenn '61 Lecturer in Science Policy at the School. Gerberding, who also has responsibility for the Merck for Mothers program and the Merck Foundation, is building new initiatives designed to accelerate Merck’s ability to contribute to improved population health – a measure increasingly valued by consumers, health organizations and communities.
