Christopher Kojm MPA ’79, the former director of the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States – the 9/11 Commission – and current chair of the National Intelligence Council, led a public discussion commemorating the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the United States. The September 19 talk focused on how we have attempted to adjust to new security realities and the challenges in keeping our nation safe from future terrorist attacks. Kojm was joined in the discussion by Kim Lane Scheppele, the Laurance S. Rockefeller Professor of Public Affairs and the University Center for Human Values and director of the School’s Program in Law and Public Affairs. Since 9/11, Scheppele has researched the effects of the international "war on terror" on constitutional protections around the world. She has also worked extensively on the topic of torture after 9/11.
